“If my ship sails from sight, it doesn’t mean my journey ends, it simply means the river bends” Enoch Powell, British MP
I end this blog where it began, with a picture of Allison and I, this time in Astoria, Oregon and home. I say home, because that place is wherever she is and I admit I missed her often along the way. This trip has been a perfect way to start a retirement in that it was structured in a way similar to my practice while, at the same time, lacking any real consequence for the mistakes I made along the way. The real journey is about to start as I learn to move forward each day without a specific goal. In an earlier blog I talked about how working toward completing this journey seemed to keep every biker I met upbeat and content. I worry some about a life without a goal, but like every other journey, it begins with a single step and tomorrow is another day.
